A bit about the Bayport & Blue Point Community
BAYPORT & BLUE POINT The Bayport-Blue Point community is often referred to as a “modern day Mayberry”. Nestled on the South Shore of Long Island, our community is very unique in that Bayport is located in the Town of Islip, while Blue Point is in the Town of Brookhaven. The towns share one school district as well as a public library. Each has their own Fire Department. Bayport is home to the now “historic” Bayport Aerodrome, which is currently the oldest consistently operating grass-strip airfield in the United States. On a beautiful day, it’s fun to sit and watch the antique planes take-off and soar out over the Great South Bay. Or, if you prefer, you can stroll down to one of two bay beaches and enjoy a beautiful sunset then grab a bite to eat at Blue Point’s famous “Flo’s Luncheonette”. If boating is your passion, you have access to two town marinas, and in minutes you can be relaxing on the shores of Fire Island. No boat, no problem. Ferries run from neighboring Patchogue and Sayville. There are also many wonderful restaurants to choose from, as well as nearby shopping, fitness centers and theaters. On a final note, the Bayport Blue Point community is host to one of the best darn St. Patrick’s Day Parades on Long Island!
